Monday Motivation

Your Monday Motivation: You Need a Not-To-Do List Also. We were conversing during a consultation with my doctor about my blood sugar levels. I told him that I have intensified my workouts (doing long distances with an improved pace) and have reduced my sugar intake. I personally felt quite proud of my efforts and hoped to receive some positive feedback. However, my doctor responded by acknowledging the value of my exercise routine but emphasized the importance of further reducing my sugar consumption. He reassured me that a consistent exercise routine was beneficial, but reducing my sugar intake to a minimum was more important (he would not even mind if I reduced the distance I run). Why am I telling you this? Moments later, I reflected on the conversation and realized that even in life, we make the same mistakes I am making. Effort; the things we do, is as important as the things we deliberately push ourselves not to do. And many times the reason why people do not see results despite their effort is because they do not complement the effort by avoiding habits detrimental to their pursuits. It is important to have a list of things you must avoid while working towards a goal —a 'not-to-do list'. You will not see the desired results if on one hand you are relentless in your pursuit of an endeavour, and on the other hand, you engage in habits that are detrimental to your pursuit. It is the same as the example I gave recently regarding our minds. No matter the level of positivity we have, we have to seek to rid our minds of any atom of negativity, otherwise it will slowly catch up. Here is to a great week folks! Be sure to work on your not-to-do list.
